Egypt’s Suez Canal General Authority said today Tuesday that the channel’s revenue rose to $1.5 billion in January and February 2023, compared to $1.1 billion in the same period last year, up 41.6%.
The Suez Canal said it had $802 million in revenue in January 2023, the highest monthly income in its history.
The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, added that 2,155 ships passed in both directions during navigation through the canal in January 2023, compared to 1,774 ships in January last year. with a difference of 381 ships, an increase of 21.5%.
He noted that the total net tonnage in January last year was 123.5 million tons, compared with 106.2 million tons in January last year, with a difference of 17.3 million tons, an increase of 16.3%.
