Taliban-appointed Hamraz said the raid was directed against ISIS militants who organized terrorist attacks in the capital, and ammunition and equipment were confiscated from the terrorists.

Residents reported hearing several explosions and gunfire that lasted several hours.

ISIS has stepped up its attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban took over in 2021, targeting members of the Shia minority as well as military and police forces.
