According to a new support document released today, Apple Watch can test the depth gauge and water seals on the Apple Watch Ultra to see if they are functioning properly.
The document outlines a few situations in which customers would want to have their timepieces inspected, such as ensuring the depth gauge’s good operation for people who depend on it, such as divers, and examining the watch for hidden damage in the event of collisions.
Owners of Apple Watch Ultra models can use Apple’s online support resources to request a Depth and Water Seal Test. Apple will examine the watch visually to check for any obvious damage. Apple will check the water seals and depth gauge to see if the device appears in good condition.
Customers are advised that hidden damage could make the watch unreliable. Such circumstances could cause the device to fail the Depth and Seal Water Test, mandating a replacement charge unless the problem is covered by warranty.
If you want the tests done on your watch, you’ll need to check with Apple because they don’t indicate a price for the service. After seven to ten business days after sending your watch to Apple, you should receive it back.
