Apple Pay Now Available in Vietnam, Chile Support Coming Soon
Apple Pay is now available in Vietnam, allowing Apple users with a participating bank’s debit or credit card to add their cards to the Wallet app and make transactions using Apple Pay.
Speculations about Apple Pay’s arrival in Vietnam began circulating in July, and since then, institutions have been working to develop the necessary infrastructure to support the payment service. iPhone and Apple Watch users in Vietnam can now make contactless payments at supported stores without manually entering their payment information. According to leaked information from a support page, Techcombank is also planning to support Apple Pay.
Apple Pay will be accepted at various locations in Vietnam, including WinMart, Phuc Long, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Highlands Coffee, and CGV Cinemas. Given the prevalent use of QR codes as a payment method in Vietnam, it will be interesting to see how Apple Pay competes with existing competitors.
