UAE-based Astra Technology Group has acquired the BOTIM voice chat app as they move closer to creating a universal app.

ASTRA did not disclose the cost of the acquisition, but indicated that Botem has 90 million users and 25 million monthly active users.

In addition to voice and video calls, Botim provides domestic and international money transfer, phone recharge and bill payment services.

Last July, Astra Technology raised $500 million (AED1.8 billion) in a funding round from unknown strategic investors.

It will use the funding in its efforts to launch a new platform designed to facilitate communication between companies, suppliers and customers.
