According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office, Austin Majors, a former child actor best known for his performance in “NYPD Blue,” has passed away. He was 27.

Austin Setmajer-Raglin was Majors’ full name. He passed away on February 11. Medical examiner documents show that the cause of death is still being investigated.

His family described Majors as “a creative, smart, and loving human being” in a statement.

According to the statement, Austin “took much excitement and pride in his performing career.” He had never met a stranger since he was a young child, and his life’s purpose was to make other people happy.

Theo Sipowicz, the son of Det. Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) played the former child actor’s breakthrough role in 1999’s ABC detective drama “NYPD Blue.” According to IMDB, Majors featured in 48 episodes between 1999 and 2004.

Majors continued to make cameos in television shows throughout the 2000s, including roles on “ER” and a two-episode storyline as the voice of Hyllus in the “Hercules” miniseries in 2005. Through 2007, Majors also guest-starred on NCIS, According to Jim, and Desperate Housewives.

In 2009, he appeared as a guest star on the CBS television show “How I Met Your Mother.” His sister reported that he was active on YouTube as well.

According to his family’s statement, Majors, a USC School of Cinematic Arts alumnus, “liked camping and fishing” and was passionate about producing music and directing.

The statement stated that Austin “was the kind of son, brother, grandson, and nephew that made us proud and we will miss him dearly forever.”
