Dr. Natalya Kruglova, a Russian nutritionist, said it is not recommended to eat citrus fruits, juices and coffee for breakfast on an empty stomach.

In an interview with the Russian Prime News agency, the expert pointed out that a person who suffers from health problems in the stomach and intestines should take care of the foods that he eats on an empty stomach in the morning in order to prevent an aggravation of the disease. Among these foods are citrus fruits and their juices, which stimulate the production of hydrochloric acid and can cause heartburn, stomach pain, and belching.

The expert also advises against drinking coffee and sweetened soda on an empty stomach. Fresh baked goods eaten on an empty stomach can also cause problems in some people, such as heartburn and flatulence.
