US President Joe Biden said Tuesday he needs to improve relations with US allies and partners after Donald Trump’s presidency.

And the White House quotes Biden as saying at a Democratic event in New York that his administration inherited a foreign policy that “has caused the United States to lose the most friends and allies in modern history.”

He added: “I spent a lot of time trying to rebuild NATO, the European Union and our relationship with Japan and South Korea…” He indicated that he spent “hundreds of hours” negotiating with world leaders, adding: “They are with us because they understand that America is back.”
