Brazil’s Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Morais has decided to sack Ibáñez Rocha, the governor of Brazil’s capital.

A large number of supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro stormed the Congress building, the Planalto presidential palace and the Supreme Court in protest against the return of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to power.

And the Brazilian newspaper Metropolis reported that “Lula issued a decree imposing law and order to contain the unrest that Bolsonaro’s supporters stormed the headquarters of the three authorities, and the decree was published in the Official Gazette.”

And the newspaper said that, under a presidential decree, the federal security forces are responsible for securing the Federal District, the capital of Brasilia, until January 31.

“We believe that there is a security issue,” da Silva said at a press conference, stressing that “everyone who participated in the riots will be prosecuted and held accountable.”

He added: “We will find the financiers of the rioters … If there is any negligence or complicity on the part of any official in the federal government, he will also be held accountable.”

For his part, Brazilian Attorney General Augusto Aras issued a statement expressing his concern about “acts of deliberate vandalism against public buildings” as he decided to “launch a criminal investigation aimed at bringing those responsible to justice while maintaining records and posts that could lead to to the identification of those responsible.

President of the Brazilian Congress Rodrigo Pacheco expressed opposition to the storming of the presidential palace and Congress building by Bolsonaro’s supporters, considering it “anti-democratic actions.”
