The Telegraph newspaper reported, citing a report on the financial position of the British royal family, that the heating temperature at Buckingham Palace was lowered amid rising energy prices.
A newspaper article stated: “Guests, staff and the royal family endured temperatures of 19 degrees Celsius in the palace during the winter, and the empty rooms were a few degrees cooler.”
It was pointed out that on weekends, heating is usually reduced “to a minimum”, and old gas lamps, which want to be replaced by electric ones, are no longer used.
The article states that the heating of the pool was stopped at the initiative of King Charles III.
According to the publication, the reason for such savings is associated with high energy prices, the restoration program of the palace, as well as the cost of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Last year, the royal palace spent more than it earned, so the royal family had to draw more than £20 million from their reserves.
