For the first time in just one week, Egypt has committed about $135 million to move 292,000 tons of corn and soybeans out of ports following a severe dollar shortage crisis.

Sameh Al-Sayed, head of the poultry department at the Giza Chamber of Commerce, said during a televised speech Thursday night that feed shipments have begun to be unloaded over the past two weeks, noting that poultry farmers have made every effort to accommodate the chickens. provide feed distribution, indicating that the price of a chicken was $3 per pound, and now has reached 17 pounds, which confirms the demand for the purchase of chickens.

Sameh Al-Sayed, head of the poultry department at the Giza Chamber of Commerce, said citizens will feel the impact of the poultry price crisis starting in mid-February or early March.

Earlier, Dr. Mohamed Al-Kersh, Assistant Minister of Agriculture and spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, said that feed makes up about 70% of Egypt’s poultry industry.

And an agriculture spokesman pointed out in television statements that the price of chickens is declining as the price of feed decreases, indicating that the state is looking to develop the poultry industry and secure agricultural supplies to increase production.

An official from the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation added that the Ministry of Agriculture is offering a large and additional number of table eggs on the market at reduced prices for citizens as Egypt has achieved self-sufficiency in poultry and eggs.

Tharwat Al Zeini, vice president of the Poultry Union, said Egypt’s poultry industry is under threat due to the lack of feed from ports as a result of the shortage of the dollar and hard currency.

He explained that Egypt will suffer from a gap in poultry production in the coming period as a result of many poultry farmers turning away from poultry production due to feed shortages, as well as the existence of a black market in feed for sale. at high and inflated prices and beyond the ability of the breeders, which forced them to sell it at any price and in any way.
