If the Arab Republic of Egypt tops the list with 23 projects, most of which are in the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, then the Sultanate of Oman is in second place with 11 projects, most of which are for the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, then the United Arab Emirates with a total complexity of 10 projects that range from the production of green and blue hydrogen (and ammonia) to the use of hydrogen in the transport sector.
A report published in the month of March by engineer Wael Hamed, a gas industry expert at OAPEC, added that the total number of projects announced in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is about 9 projects, which range from the production of environmentally friendly blue hydrogen (and ammonia) , and in Morocco 7 projects, all for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia. Green and Mauritania with 3 projects for the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia. In addition to 4 projects in the Republic of Algeria, which for the first time included studying the implementation of hydrogen pipeline projects between Algeria and Italy, two projects in Djibouti and the Republic of Iraq and one project each in the State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
And further in the report, projects for the production of hydrogen and its derivatives, such as ammonia, represent the vast majority of investments in hydrogen in the Arab countries, since they together represent 87.7% of the total number of announced projects, while projects for the use hydrogen on land, sea and air transport sectors account for 9.6%, and hydrogen transportation projects for 9.6% The rest, which is about 2.7%.
