Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in response to the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden on the first day of Eid al-Adha: “Sooner or later, we will teach the symbols of Western arrogance that insulting the shrines of Muslims is not freedom of thought.”
Erdogan added in press statements: those who commit the crime of burning the Koran in Sweden and those who allow it under the guise of freedom of thought will not achieve their goals.
He continued, “I would like everyone to know that we (Turkey) will never succumb to a policy of provocation or threats.”
Yesterday, Wednesday, the first day of Eid al-Adha, a Swedish woman named Sloan Momika (37) tore up a copy of the Koran and set it on fire in Stockholm’s central mosque after the police gave permission to organize a protest against the judgment.
