On Friday, the European Union threatened to impose sanctions on countries that help Russia circumvent sanctions.
According to the European Council, the EU, within the framework of the 11th package of sanctions, expanded the list of high-tech and military goods prohibited from transit through Russia.
A European Council statement on its website states: “Today’s decision prohibits the transit of more goods and technologies that could contribute to Russia’s military technological improvement or the development of (its) defense sector, as well as goods and technologies that could be used in aviation and space industry, through the territory of Russia.
“The European Union has expanded the ban on the supply of luxury cars to Russia to include all new and used cars with an engine capacity of more than 1,900 cubic centimeters (1.9 liters), as well as all electric and hybrid cars,” the message says. added.
The statement stated that “the European Union has extended the ban on the carriage of goods to the European Union by (Russian) road transport to trailers and semi-trailers registered in Russia, including when they are transported by trucks registered outside the Russian Federation.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said earlier that the eleventh package of sanctions against the Russian Federation is aimed at countering the measures taken by Russia and partner countries to overcome Western sanctions.
The European Commission said that the measures it proposed under the 11th package should ban trade worth 11.4 billion euros a year.
