As the end of winter draws near, Europe’s gas inventories are at record highs due to falling industrial production and rising prices.

According to official data, European and British gas reserves rose to 730 TWh in mid-February, up 55% from the seasonal average over the past ten years.

High gas prices have prompted many factories in Europe to close their doors at a time when temperatures have fallen less than expected this winter, reducing gas use for heating.
