Former President Donald Trump to Turn Himself in at Fulton Prison in Georgia
Sources told CNN that former President Donald Trump will turn himself in at Fulton Prison in Georgia next Thursday.
Date Agreed Upon for Trump’s Surrender
CNN reported that the date was agreed upon in consultations between prosecutors and Trump’s lawyers.
Arrest Procedures at Fulton Jail
Trump is expected to arrive at Fulton Jail to undergo arrest procedures, where he will be searched, photographed, and fingerprinted.
Bail and Trial Restrictions
Trump will have to post a $200,000 bail for his release. This bail amount would also bar Trump from pressuring other parts of the trial, including through social media posts.
Timing of Surrender
Trump will turn himself in a day after the first round of the pre-election debate of potential US presidential candidates from the Republican Party. Earlier, Trump confirmed that he would not come.
Indictment on Charges Related to Election Results
Notably, Trump and 18 other defendants in a plot to change the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia were indicted last week on criminal charges.
Previous Criminal Charges
This is the fourth time Trump has faced criminal charges.
Deadline for Voluntary Appearance
Fulton County District Attorney Fanny Willis has set August 25 as the deadline for Trump and other defendants to voluntarily appear.
