The Morocco national football team is enjoying a golden period as it continues its unparalleled historical record in the Arab world and Africa.

Morocco reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after defeating Portugal with a goal by Youssef Al Nusairi in a match held at the Al Tumama Stadium in Qatar.

The Atlas Lions reached this advanced stage with two wins over Belgium and Canada and a group stage draw with Croatia, followed by two wins over Spain on penalties in the round of 16, then over Portugal (1-0) in the quarter-finals.

With these impressive results, the Moroccan national team scored a large number of points, which lifted them to the forefront of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) teams classification.

And a football ranking website that specializes in team scoring confirmed that the Atlas Lions managed to score 108.88 points under the leadership of national coach Walid Rakraki.

The points lifted Morocco 11 places in the FIFA rankings to 11th place with 1,672.38 points, after being in 22nd place before the start of the World Cup in Qatar.

It is planned that FIFA will publish the official classification of national teams at the beginning of the new year 2023.

In turn, the Moroccan site of Al-Botula confirmed that the sons of coach Regraga are in one place from getting into the top ten teams in the world.

And if the Moroccans manage to reach tenth place in the two remaining matches of the World Cup in Qatar, then they will achieve the best score in their entire history.

The Moroccan team finished tenth in the world in 1998, becoming the first Arab and African team to achieve this top position.

And the Brazilian national team still holds the first place in the ranking, despite the elimination from the quarter-finals of the World Cup against Croatia, and lost 0.53 points, bringing their result to 1840.77 points.

The French team moved up to second place after being fourth, taking advantage of the early elimination of the Belgian team, which fell back to the position of the Roosters.

Argentina retained third place, adding 25.24 points to reach 1799.12 points, very narrowly ahead of France which scored 1800.70 points.

England finished in fifth place, followed by the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Croatia and Spain respectively, followed by Morocco in eleventh place.
