The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of Saudi Arabia has announced the localization of a number of professions and activities at certain rates in the Medina and Jazan regions from today, Saturday, July 8, 2023.
The ministry said in a statement that this is happening as part of a regional resettlement program being implemented by the ministry in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, the Emirate of the Medina Region and the Emirate of the Jazan Region, which aims to provide more stimulus measures. and productive work opportunities for the sons and daughters of the country, and to increase their participation in the labor market.
The percentage of restaurant activity settling in the Medina area was 40%, and it includes: service restaurants, banquet kitchens, fast food stores and juice shops, while the localization of cafe activity was 50% in: ice cream shops, as well as serving drinks in cafes.
Wholesale sales of food and beverages are also localized by 50%, with the exception of professions: cleaners and loaders and unloaders, provided that their share does not exceed 20% of employees.
The Ministry stated that the activities excluded from the relocation of the activities of restaurants and cafes in the Medina area include: cafeterias, food preparation and preparation or contractors (catering), catering contractors, canteens and cafeterias in factories, offices, hospitals and schools. , restaurants and cafes in hotels, apartments and hotel villas.
The localization of activities in the Jazan district covered 70% of the total number of employees at the points of service for the activities of advertising agencies in retail outlets, as well as at points providing photo services, and outlets providing repair and maintenance services for personal computers and laptops. , with the exception of professions: cleaner and loader.
In addition, a number of occupations in the operation and maintenance of passenger ferries have been restricted for Saudis, namely: “sea steward, ticket clerk, accountant, assistant accountant, finance clerk – marketing specialist, salesman, cashier, purchasing representative, and purchases.” With the exception of professions: “cleaner and stevedore.”
The Ministry confirmed that it will provide a package of incentives and support related to supporting private sector enterprises to help them hire Saudis, including: support for the recruitment process and finding suitable workers, support for the necessary training and qualification process, support for the recruitment process and career continuity, in addition to prioritizing the use of all emiratization support programs available in the Ministry.
