King Charles III’s Visit to France Postponed to September
The French newspaper Sud Ouest reported that King Charles III’s visit to France will take place in September, after it was postponed at the end of March due to the risk of an outbreak of violence in the midst of protests against pension reform.
Based on “Court West”, the visit of Charles III and his wife Camilla to France will take place closer to September 20, with a visit to the city of Bordeaux on the 22nd of the same month.
In response to a question from Agence France-Presse, the Elysee Palace declined to comment on the state visit, which includes two stops in Paris and Bordeaux, according to Sud Ouest.
On March 24, French President Emmanuel Macron was forced to announce the postponement of the visit of the British monarch just two days before his arrival.
At that time, France was already in its ninth day of demonstrations against pension reform, and the tenth day of protests was planned during the state visit.
And on that day, Downing Street mentioned that France had asked for a postponement of this trip, which would have been the king’s first official stop abroad since his accession to the throne.
