Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed today, Thursday, that the aftermath of the earthquake in southeastern Turkey on Monday could lead to a delay in the construction of a gas distribution hub, but would not cancel the project.
Peskov told reporters: “Of course, at present,” the creation of a gas distribution hub “cannot be a priority for Turkey, we are aware of this issue, so the project may be postponed for some time.”
The Kremlin spokesman indicated that work on the gas distribution hub was proceeding at an accelerated pace, adding: “Yes, work may be delayed for some time, but this will not affect the implementation of plans.”
Peskov continued: “We have no doubt that Turkey will cope with this disaster, provide the necessary assistance to the victims of the earthquake and rebuild the destroyed cities,” noting that “many countries, including Russia, will help Ankara in this process, just like it happens. “Now help clear the rubble and find the victims.”
In early February, Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said that work on the creation of an international gas distribution center in Turkey had entered the final stage.
