According to Ukrainian police, 18 people, including Ukrainian Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky and two children, were killed in a helicopter crash near a kindergarten on Wednesday morning in the Kyiv region.
“We have information about 18 dead, including two children,” the police said in a statement. In its statement, it also mentioned the assassination of the Minister of the Interior, his first assistant and another high-ranking official, who were on board the helicopter.
Kyiv police confirmed 22 victims, including 10 children, who were taken to hospitals.
The Kyiv police launched an investigation into the accident, and an Al-Arabiya source said that the interior minister’s helicopter probably crashed in Kyiv due to a technical malfunction.

Earlier Wednesday, Ukrainian authorities said the number of victims had not been established in a helicopter crash near a school in the Kyiv region.
“In the city of Brovary (the eastern outskirts of Kyiv), a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten and a residential building … there are victims,” Governor of the region Oleksiy Kuleba wrote on Telegram.
He added: “Ambulances, police and firefighters are on the scene.”
