Large-Scale Operation Against Drug Dealers in the Caribbean Leads to Mayor’s Arrest
The Attorney General’s Office of Honduras reported that the security forces carried out a large-scale operation against drug dealers in the Caribbean, and Wilmer Wood, mayor of Bruce Laguna, was among those arrested.
Operation Notos Dismantles Criminal Organizations
During Operation Notos, the prosecutor’s office dismantled three criminal organizations involved in the drug trade, among those arrested was the mayor of Bruce Laguna, according to a statement by the prosecutor.
99 Cocaine-Filled Planes Received Over Five Years
Investigators revealed that three criminal organizations, operating over the past five years, coordinated the reception of at least 99 planes with cocaine from South America in the country.
Mayor Bruce Laguna’s Involvement
Mayor Bruce Laguna, an independent drug dealer, is believed to have arranged for about 30 tons of cocaine to be transported by boat and plane.
Former President Implicated
Last year, the Honduran authorities announced the transfer of former President Juan Orlando Hernandez to the US Drug Enforcement Administration. He is accused of participating in the drug trade.
