Manchester United Signs Injured Sofiane Amrabat

Introduction

The British newspaper The Mirror reported that Manchester United had signed Sofiane Amrabat despite discovering the Moroccan player was injured while undergoing a medical before completing his joining process.

Transfer Details

At the end of the 2023 summer transfer market, Amrabat moved to United on a one-season loan from Fiorentina for around £8.5m, with a clause allowing the Red Devils to buy the Moroccan player next summer for £21.5 million.

Injury Discovery

The Mirror said that United officials discovered that Amrabat was suffering from a minor back injury during a medical examination he underwent before completing procedures for his move to the English team.

Completion of the Deal

The British publication stated that despite the injury, the deal was still completed in the last hours of the 2023 summer transfer period. United officials believed that Amrabat’s injury was not serious and agreed to proceed with the transfer.

Previous Injury at the World Cup

Amrabat, 27, admitted that he suffered a severe back injury while participating in the Qatar 2022 World Cup for Morocco. He missed Morocco’s historic penalty shootout victory over Spain in the World Cup final due to the injury but played the full 120 minutes after receiving painkillers.

Absence from Manchester United

Amrabat missed Manchester United’s last 3-1 win against Arsenal in the English Premier League, and no date has been set for the Moroccan star’s first appearance in a Red Devils shirt.
