Paris Saint-Germain’s official Instagram account lost an unusual amount of followers, reaching around 200,000 followers in just two hours on Sunday night.
This came less than 24 hours after the announcement of Lionel Messi’s departure as the total number of accounts unfollowed by Paris Saint-Germain reached around 600,000 followers.
Overall, this figure represents a significant increase in the number of daily dislikes from a large account that had about 70 million followers.
Where the largest number of subscribers who disliked them in one day was about ten thousand, on May 30th last year.
And French football champions Paris Saint-Germain announced on Saturday that Messi would leave the ranks after the final match of the season to move closer to Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia or return to the ranks of his former club Barcelona.
The match, which took place on Sunday, saw an inappropriate farewell to the Argentine with a hoot and a 2-3 defeat to Clermont in the last 38 rounds of league tournaments.
The 35-year-old Messi, who has won every possible trophy with Barcelona, joined the French club in August 2021 in hopes of helping them win the Champions League, but was knocked out twice in the round of 16.
