Argentinian Lionel Messi, the star of Paris Saint-Germain, gave up on an old dream because he received a threatening message from militants.

Sergio Aguero, a former Manchester City and Barcelona striker and a close friend of Messi, said that “Leo is seriously considering a move to Newell’s Old Boys.

According to British newspaper The Athletic, a threatening message Messi received from gunmen in Argentina forced him to turn down a move to the Old Boys this summer, possibly forever.

An armed group attacked a store in Argentina belonging to the family of Antonella Roccuzzo, Messi’s wife, and left a message saying: “Messi, we are waiting for you. Yavkin is a drug dealer and he won’t protect you.”

It is noteworthy that the militants stormed a building in the city of Rosario and repeatedly fired at the metal fence over the windows and the front door.

Messi has previously stated that he dreams of returning to his childhood club Newell’s Old Boys.
