The club tweeted: “The safety of our guests is our top priority. If you are at the stadium, please stay in your car and we will keep you posted.”

And the Mundo Deportivo newspaper reported that the fans who attended the ceremony had to stay in tents to escape heavy rain and lightning.

She added: “Bad weather hasn’t prevented American fans from attending in large numbers in the stands and outside the stadium.”
