Last week, the number of Americans filing new jobless claims rose more than expected.
The Labor Department said on Thursday that new jobless claims increased by 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted level of 196,000 in the week ended Feb. 4.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected claims to reach 190,000 in the same week.
