Al Ahly South Africa’s technical director, Pitso Mushimane, announced his departure from the team on Thursday, just eight months after he took charge and terminated his contract “by mutual agreement”.

Musimani, who took charge of Al Ahly’s training at the start of last season, managed to get the team back into the Saudi Roshan professional league and won the Saudi First Division title late last month.

Musimani said in a statement: “After ending our relationship with Al Ahly… I would like to express my great joy for accomplishing the difficult task in just 8 months, which is to see the team rise to the Saudi Pro League and become the first title class.”

Musimani emphasized that Al Ahly’s technical team would not have achieved this achievement if it were not for the team’s stars who constantly played with their hearts, as well as the huge support of the audience in the stands.

The South African coach concluded his speech with a message to the Al Ahly fans, saying: “Your presence in the stands at home and away has been the best motivation for us.”
