Sergei Naryshkin, director of Russia’s foreign intelligence service, said he believes public opinion in European countries is not as homogeneous as the United States would like.
Naryshkin, who also chairs the Russian Historical Society, added: “Public opinion in Europe today is far from united and not as homogeneous as Washington would like it to be.”
And Naryshkin continued in his speech at the round table, which was held under the slogan “Memorial of the Second World War in Russia and France. On the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad”: the presence of French volunteers in the ranks of the defenders of Donbass, as well as this meeting that we are holding today, is a clear confirmation of this.”
The Battle of Stalingrad is one of the most important and decisive battles of the Great Patriotic War. It took place in the city of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) and lasted about 6 months from August 21, 1942 to February 2, 1943 and ended with a crushing defeat of the German troops.
