Twitter further cut work on the Trust and Safety team, which is responsible for global content moderation, as well as the hate speech and harassment team.
And a Bloomberg report, citing informed sources, says that at least 10 more layoffs on Friday night affected workers at the company’s offices in Dublin and Singapore.
And Bloomberg reported that among those fired from the social media platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk are Nur Azhar bin Ayub, the newly appointed head of website security for Asia Pacific, and Analuisa Dominguez, senior director of revenue policy at Twitter.
The report added that employees were also laid off in teams dealing with disinformation politics, global appeals, and state media on the platform.
Twitter vice president of trust and security, Ella Irvin, confirmed to Reuters that the company has made some cuts to its team, without elaborating.
“Our trust and safety team has thousands of people who do content moderation, and we don’t skimp on the people who do this work every day,” she said in an email.
She added that some job cuts have occurred in areas where there were not enough of them, or where it made sense to include them.
Twitter laid off almost 3,700 employees in early November 2022 in an effort to cut costs for new owner Elon Musk, and hundreds later resigned.
