The New York Times wrote that the refusal of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to supply Ukraine with Leopard tanks greatly affects Kyiv’s military plans.

And she said: “Ukrainians do not hide the fact that no matter how much they value the support of their allies, what they receive is not enough. and the defense ministers issued a joint statement thanking the British government but adding that “this is not enough to meet operational objectives”.

The newspaper notes that US officials were clearly disappointed with the negotiations with the German government this week.

She added: “Germany initially announced that it would send Leopard tanks and allow others to do so if the US sent Abrams tanks to Ukraine as well. The US refused to do this, saying that this tank (Abrams) uses a lot of gasoline, because that it runs on a jet engine and requires a special supply line to operate in Ukrainian conditions.”

And she added that although Germany did not agree to send Leopard tanks this week, it has not said no – at least not yet – while noting that Ukraine has little time to launch a decisive offensive next spring.
