Experts have found that men who drink certain beverages may be more prone to hair loss.
Experts found that hair loss was 30% more common in those who regularly drank energy drinks and sweetened coffee and tea.
And a team from Tsinghua University in Beijing found that those who drink soft drinks and sports drinks are at greater risk.
A study published in the journal Nutrients found that these men consumed one to three liters of these drinks each week.
They said that men who drank more than one sugary drink a day were 42% more likely to suffer from hair loss than those who never drank those drinks.
On average, men who reported hair loss drank 12 sweetened drinks per week, compared with seven drinks per week for men who did not experience hair loss.
Researchers studied the habits of more than 1,000 Chinese men aged 18 to 45 for four months.
During this time they had to report their eating habits as well as their mental health history.
The researchers noted that it wasn’t just drinks that were studied, as they also found that men who ate more fast food and fewer vegetables had a higher chance of hair loss.
They also stated that those with a history of problems such as anxiety were also at higher risk.
Experts have previously stated that a healthy diet is the key to full curls and hair loss prevention.
London-based dermatologist Sharon Wong said: “Hair follicle cells are the second fastest dividing cell in the body and require all the nutrients of a healthy, balanced diet. This includes lean proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals, but no superfood.” . Since hair is not a primary survival structure, the body does not prioritize the use of nutrients for hair growth. Nutrient deficiencies and harsh diets are common causes of hair loss.”
And the National Health Service (NHS) states that hair loss is normal as we lose 50 to 100 hairs a day without realizing it.
In most cases, there is nothing to worry about, but sometimes it can be a sign of a serious illness. You should see a doctor if you are suffering from sudden hair loss, bald spots on the scalp or significant hair loss.
It is also important to seek medical attention if you feel itching and burning in your head or if you are concerned about hair loss.
