French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anne-Clair Legendre said that arms supplies to Ukraine from Paris do not make France a party to the conflict.
“France is not at war with Russia,” Legendre said.
She added: “Providing military equipment to Ukraine for legitimate defense does not contravene the UN Charter.”
And she continued: “Therefore, we reject the accusations of our involvement in the conflict.”
French politician Florian Filippo has previously confirmed that his country’s President Emmanuel Macron is being pressured to supply Leclerc tanks to Ukraine.
