The Armenian government announced that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and ordered him to send aid teams to his country.
A statement released by the Armenian government following a telephone conversation between the two leaders on Tuesday said: “The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the many victims of the massive earthquake that hit the southeastern regions of the country.”
The statement reads: “Nikol Pashinyan wished a speedy recovery to all those injured and added that a plane with Armenian rescue teams on board is preparing to take off from Zvartnots Airport in Yerevan.”
It is noteworthy that on Sunday night and Monday morning, a strong earthquake occurred in southern Turkey and northern Syria, which killed more than 7 thousand people and injured tens of thousands.
