The Georgian opposition United National Movement party organized a march in front of the parliament building in the center of the capital, Tbilisi, to protest government policies.

The Interpress news agency reported that opposition leaders, who took the stage in front of parliament, demanded that the authorities comply with the EU’s recommendations for obtaining EU candidate status, including the adoption of an oligarchy law. It is estimated that the number of participants in the march exceeded a thousand people.

The requirement to follow the European approach to the development of Georgia was the main message that the participants wanted to convey.

Calls were also made to release ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili and the head of the Mtavare Arkhi TV channel, Nika Jfaramia, whom the opposition considers political prisoners.

It is noteworthy that the event was peaceful and was not accompanied by riots or clashes with the security forces.
