Russian President Putin: Ukraine’s Counterattack Yields No Result
Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Ukraine’s counterattack against Russian troops in the south and east of the country has not been successful, despite financial and military support from the West.
During a televised meeting of the Security Council, Putin stated that the vast resources and Western supplies of weapons provided to Ukraine have not yielded any positive outcome, according to Agence France Presse.
Losses in the Tens of Thousands
Putin further revealed that Ukrainian forces have suffered heavy losses, with tens of thousands of fighters affected during the counterattack.
According to TASS agency, these losses were primarily due to suicide attacks on formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“A Very Dangerous Game”
Putin also expressed concern about the West’s attempt to draw new countries into the conflict in Ukraine, calling it a “very dangerous game”.
He specifically commented on the plans to create a Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian military brigade, urging the authors of such plans to consider the consequences.
“Aggression against Belarus”
Furthermore, Putin warned that any aggression against Belarus would be seen as aggression against Russia, and Moscow would respond with all available means.
He stated, “As for Belarus, which is part of a federal state, then aggression against it will be tantamount to aggression against the Russian Federation, and we will respond to it with all the means at our disposal.”
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian counterattack, which began last June with Western-provided heavy weaponry, is progressing slowly against well-prepared Russian forces, including solid defenses and significant firepower.
