After Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov announced that his country had received proposals to enter into the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis according to the scenario of the settlement of the Korean crisis, Russian reaction followed.
Kirill Logvinov, acting representative of Russia to the European Union, refuted statements by Ukrainian officials about an alleged discussion between Moscow and Brussels on resolving the conflict in Ukraine according to the “Korean formula”.
“No calculations at all”
In a statement to the Izvestiya newspaper published on Thursday, he said that there were no contacts between representatives of Russia and the European Union on the Ukrainian settlement, not only in the context of the Korean formula, but also no negotiations on the settlement at all.
Russia: No conditions for negotiations!
This happened after another statement by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in which he also confirmed that the statements about the “Korean formula” are pure lies, the Novosti agency reports.
While Danilov said that Russian diplomats were sending signals to European politicians that Moscow was “ready to make concessions provided the status quo is established,” the Russian official denied this outright.
A Ukrainian official said in a TV interview: “We are now being offered accommodation according to the Korean model. That is, along the well-known so-called “38th parallel”. That is, on this side, Ukrainians of this type live, but there are Ukrainians of another category. I know for sure. Confidence that one of the options they can offer us is the 38″ latitude option.
Hardly negotiations!
It is noteworthy that the conflict between Seoul and Pyongyang ended at the 38th parallel, which is the line of contact, in 1953, when the war on the Korean Peninsula ended after its division into north and south.
Russia announced at the end of last year that its leadership, led by President Vladimir Putin, was ready to negotiate over Ukraine on the condition that Ukrainians give up territories recently annexed by Moscow.
On the other hand, Kyiv completely rejects this issue and demands the withdrawal of Russian troops from all its lands.
