Today, Sunday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the launch of the final phase of the political process in Sudan.
In a statement released by the Saudi Press Agency, the ministry reaffirmed Riyadh’s continued support for the restoration of political stability in Sudan, as well as the kingdom’s continued efforts with Sudanese and international partners to achieve everything that “stabilizes, develops and prospers.” Sudan.
The Ministry highly appreciated the international efforts of the tripartite mechanism represented by the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), the African Union and IGAD to achieve stability in the country.
On Sunday, the parties to the framework agreement entered the final phase of the political process in Sudan, hoping to reach a final agreement on the resumption of the transition period.
In a speech on behalf of the Quartet mechanism, Saudi Ambassador to Khartoum Ali bin Hassan Jaafar welcomed the launch of the second and final phase of the political process, expressing support for the mechanism to initiate an inclusive dialogue to resolve outstanding issues.
For her part, the representative of the European Union expressed the bloc’s hope that the current efforts will be crowned with an agreement that will lead the Sudanese to freedom, peace and justice.
In his speech, the representative of the tripartite mechanism, the African Union envoy Mohamed El Hassan Belaish again called on all political forces to join the framework agreement.
In addition, a representative of the Democratic Bloc for Freedom and Change told Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadas that there was a positive dialogue between the parties under the auspices of Al-Burhan and Hamidti.
For his part, Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo reaffirmed his commitment to the formation of a full-fledged civil authority in Sudan and the formation of a single professional national army that does not participate in politics.
For his part, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, confirmed that the military institution would play no role in the process of democratic change in the country.
