Saudi newspaper Al-Watan reported that Riyadh’s candidacy to host the 2030 World Expo has received renewed international support.
Al-Watan stated that the Bulgarian cabinet had decided to support the cause of the Kingdom, praising the historical relationship between the two sides and the common ties that bind them.
He cited a Bulgarian cabinet statement saying that Bulgaria “takes into account the existing relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and considers it a strategic partner in the Middle East” as the Bulgarian government expects support for the Kingdom’s bid for EXPO 2030 and active participation in it will contribute to the “strengthening of cultural, economic and commercial relations”, investments, as well as all areas of mutual interest.
According to Al-Watan, the Bulgarian government praised the progress made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its quality record, stating that the most important characteristic of Saudi Arabia’s candidacy for Expo 2030 is the “dynamic development of the Kingdom and the wide application of new technologies along with with the preservation of tradition and commitment to the fight against climate change”.
It is worth noting that the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, having applied for the nomination last September, is competing with 3 other cities, since the International Exhibitions Bureau, based in the French capital Paris, has nominated cities in 4 countries to host an important event, and in it are included next to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), numbers from South Korea (Busan), Italy (Rome) and Ukraine (Odessa).
International Expo has been held since 1851 and is the largest global platform for presenting the latest achievements and technologies and glorifying the cultural values that unite humanity.
