American journalist Seymour Hersh opined that US President Joe Biden fears Germany’s withdrawal of sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas project in the event of a cold winter.

Hirsch said in a statement to the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung: “I think the reason for this decision (to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines) is that the war (in Ukraine) was not going well for the West. and they were afraid of the winter season.”

He pointed out that Nord Stream 2 was stopped by Germany, not by international sanctions, and the US feared that Germany would withdraw sanctions due to the cold winter.

Earlier this month, Seymour Hersh published an article in which he claimed that the United States had organized the bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea, and that the bombing was carried out by the Norwegians in September last year.

The United States denies any involvement in the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
