And the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Martina Koval Kakashikova, said that Slovakia is ready to supply Ukraine with T-72 tanks, which are in service with the republic’s armed forces, on the condition that in return it receives modern Western-made tanks. armored vehicles.

Commenting on the issue of supplying the Armed Forces of the Republic with German-made Leopard 2 tanks, Koval Kakashikova stressed that negotiations on the transfer of T-72 tanks to Kyiv are not currently underway.

“We understand Ukraine’s need to acquire as much heavy ground equipment as possible and are ready to talk about immediate deliveries of Slovak T-72 tanks, but only if they are replaced with suitable equipment,” she said.

Earlier today, on Wednesday, US President Joe Biden confirmed that Washington had decided to transfer 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Kyiv, but their delivery will take time.

Speaking at the White House, Biden said it would take time to get the Abrams tanks to Kyiv, but the US would quickly start training Ukrainian forces on them.

He stressed that these weapons “will play an important role” in the military operation in Ukraine.

After the start of the Russian special operation to liberate Donbass from the Nazis, the United States and the European Union allocated billions of dollars to arm the Ukrainian forces.

And Russia had previously sent a memorandum to NATO countries over arms shipments to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that any arms shipment to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russian forces.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that the “NATO” countries are playing with fire by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that the infusion of weapons from the West into Ukraine is not conducive to success.
