Political science professor and former dean of Egypt’s Asyut Department of Commerce, Ismail Sabry Makled, said the US treats the war in Sudan with disdain and indifference and has no real intention of ending the conflict.

Sabry Macled added to RT that the apparently indifferent contacts that the US administration is forging with some Arab and African regional parties to curb the pace of violence currently taking place in Sudan do not indicate that the United States wants to use its great international political weight, whether inside or outside the United Nations, to stop the deterioration and escalation of this dangerous conflict and prevent it from spreading, expanding and spreading its effects beyond the Sudan.

He explained that the negative position of the United States regarding the armed conflict that has now erupted in Sudan and portends many terrible consequences on a regional and international scale, is that this conflict, with its accelerating pace, has diverted the attention of the whole world, east and west, and together with this the attention of the international media in general, from the war in Ukraine to the interior of Sudan, and that the development of a civil war could cause security implications and extremely dangerous regional and international strategic shifts.
He added that this shift in international attention from Ukraine to Sudan is frustrating for the US administration, as it prevents it from achieving one of the most important strategic goals of this war, which is to isolate Russia from its broad international environment and keep it under permanent siege by Western media. like never before, with any regional or international war in which Russia has been a party.

He said that after almost two full weeks, international public opinion has thrown the Ukrainian war out of his memory and excluded it from his circle of concern, and he is no longer concerned with it, nor does he see it as an immediate threat. security and stability in the world, as he sees in the fire currently raging in the Sudan, which could spread from Africa to other frontiers.

He pointed out that the US administration does not consider this danger in its real dimensions, on the basis that the conflict in Ukraine and the attempt to defeat Russia, and not what is happening in Sudan, is a strategic priority for it that should precede all priorities.

He said that from this perspective, the Biden administration wants to marginalize and limit this security file, portraying it as an internal conflict that can be managed and resolved through some regional intermediaries.
