The head of the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, Suheil Shaheen, denied media reports of new restrictions on women in Afghanistan, in particular a ban on working in shops.

Earlier, Al-Arabiya TV channel reported, citing sources, that the Afghan government, created by the Taliban, set a ten-day deadline for the closure of women’s beauty salons in the country, and also banned women from working in shopping centers.

Shaheen said: “This information is unreliable. Relevant structures refute this statement.”

With the advent of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan, the rights of women in this country were severely limited, in particular, they were recently banned from attending classes in higher educational institutions.
