Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahyan announced his country’s readiness to send relief teams and immediate humanitarian aid to the earthquake-hit areas of Idlib, which are beyond the control of the Syrian government.
This is stated in a telephone conversation with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spolyarik, during which the parties discussed opinions and points of view regarding the conditions for providing assistance to victims of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey.
Referring to the humanitarian situation in Idlib and the large number of casualties and casualties in the region, Abdollahyan stressed that “Tehran is ready to send relief teams and immediate humanitarian assistance to Idlib”, and that the International Red Cross, in coordination with the Iranian Red Crescent, is expected to send and distribute aid to Idlib, which is not controlled by the Syrian government.
Abdullahyan said that after the earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey, Iran “took various measures to help the victims, including sending rescue teams to both countries and declaring its readiness to receive the wounded in Iranian hospitals.”
The Iranian foreign minister described the humanitarian situation in Syria as difficult and stressed the need for international forums to pay attention to the special situation, adding: “The sanctions and the earthquake have made the situation of the Syrian people worse.”
“The Red Cross will take intensive measures to assess the conditions of the victims of the earthquake in Syria and, after assessing the special circumstances, will carry out the necessary coordination regarding the valuable proposals of the Islamic Republic of Iran and how to implement them,” Fars News Agency quoted Spolerik.
