Former Barcelona and Atlético Madrid player Marcos Alonso Peña of Spain, father of current Barcelona player Marcos Alonso, died Thursday at the age of 63 from cancer.

And the Spanish newspaper Marca broke the news of the death of Marcos Alonso, the son of the late international player Marcos Alonso Imas “Marquitos”, the legend of Real Madrid, and this was confirmed by sources from Barcelona.

Marcos Alonso spent 13 seasons in the Spanish First Division with Racing Santander, Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and Logrones, and also played 22 times for the Spanish national team.
Marcos Alonso won 5 titles in his Barcelona career when he won the league once in the 1984-1985 season, once the Copa del Rey (1983), once the Supercopa de España (1983) and the Spanish League Cup. twice (1983 and 1986).
