Today, Wednesday, the Turkish authorities said that helicopters and other aircraft are fighting a fire that broke out again in the port of Iskenderun after the Turkish Defense Ministry announced that it was extinguished yesterday.
The port of Iskenderun suffered severe structural damage from the earthquake and all operations at the port were suspended until further notice, AP Moller-Maersk reported.
The company stated: “Given the situation in Iskenderun, we will need to change the destination of all reservations heading to the port or already in the water… We are currently planning to divert containers to nearby centers according to operational feasibility or leave them at temporary ports of shipment. including the port of Mersin (in Turkey) and Port Said” (in Egypt).”

On Wednesday, the Syrian News Agency, citing the General Directorate of Ports, announced the resumption of navigation in all seaports of the country, except for the port of Al-Baset in the city of Latakia.
The General Directorate announced the closure of all coastal seaports last Monday due to a storm and strong winds.
