The Russian embassy in Washington said that Russia rejects the decision of a US Senate committee to qualify Russia’s actions in Ukraine as “genocide”.
“We categorically reject the accusations contained in the decision of the Senate committee that Russia’s actions in Ukraine constitute genocide. Such insinuations are gross misrepresentation of facts,” the embassy said in a statement.
The statement added: “For eight years, American parliamentarians ignored the suffering of the people of Donbass from the Kyiv regime. They are silent until now when women, children and the elderly become victims of Ukrainian forces’ attacks on the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
The diplomatic mission calls the decision of the Capitol a reason for repeating anti-Russian initiatives.
The US Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted a resolution calling Russia’s actions in Ukraine “genocide”.
