Advisor to the acting president of the Donetsk Republic, Igor Kimakovsky, confirmed that the Kyiv forces have lost 70% of their elite in the strategic city of Artemovsk (Bakhmut), which the Russian army is about to liberate.
He pointed out that if Kyiv sent additional forces to the city, then these would be regular forces, and they would suffer the same fate.
And Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksandr Rodnyansky said that Ukrainian forces could “strategically withdraw” from Artemovsk if necessary, since Kyiv does not want, in his words, to sacrifice its military in vain.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky personally visited the city and awarded some of the officers and soldiers in it with orders and medals, saying that his troops would never leave Bakhmut.
