The newest trailer for Pixar Animation Studio’s upcoming film, Elemental, released by Disney, can now be viewed online. After what else but the animated personifications of two elements, fire, and water, the new perspective on the story of fire and ice that Disney and Pixar have created is scheduled to make its debut in theaters on June 16, just in time to kick off the Father’s Day weekend.
The idiom “opposites attract” is taken to a whole new level in the plot of the video game Elemental. Wade Ripple and Ember Lumen, whose elemental identities are Water and Fire, respectively, are the focus of our attention as their budding romance unfolds in Element City. In this bustling metropolis, residents of all four elements—Water, Earth, Fire, and Air—share their homes. In an interview with Collider conducted in November 2022, director Peter Sohn discussed the circumstances that led to the meeting of these two characters, stating:
That makes for a fun activity because they are such opposites. In terms of being vulnerable and experiencing each other for the first time, the Venn diagram that depicts what connects the two is universal. The Venn diagram explains why they end up falling in love with each other. Because I don’t want to give anything away about the movie, the things they have in common are only a small window of similarities.
In the new movie, Mamoudou Athie, known for his roles in Jurassic World: Dominion and Archive 81, will debut as a voice actor in the role of Wade. Leah Lewis, known for her roles in The Half of It and Nancy Drew, will provide the voice of Ember.
Peter Sohn, who has worked as a member of Pixar’s art department on some of the studio’s most beloved films like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, as well as providing the voice for several of the studio’s characters, including Remy’s brother Emile in Ratatouille, will direct the film Elemental, which Pixar first announced in May 2022. He directed his first full-length feature film, “The Good Dinosaur,” released in 2015. Brenda Hsueh, whose previous work includes episodes of How I Met Your Mother and Truth Be Told, penned the screenplay for the movie. Hsueh also has previous credits in other television series. Pete Doctor, who wrote the scripts for the animated films Inside Out, Up, Soul, and Wall-E, will be an executive producer on the upcoming movie. In addition to that, Sohn will be working alongside Denise Ream as a producer on the project (Up, Cars 2, Toy Story 4).
