Truce Violated in Ain al-Hilweh Camp in Lebanon
Despite the truce, the Ain al-Hilweh camp in Lebanon is still experiencing the most violent clashes since the worsening of the situation between the Fatah movement and extremist groups in the area.
The Truce Did Not Take Place
An Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent reported on Thursday that the ceasefire reached yesterday, Wednesday, by the Palestinian Joint Action Committee for 24 hours in the camp was not respected.
Violent Clashes and Casualties
He stated that the ceasefire lasted only for a while, and then there were the most violent clashes since the aggravation of the situation, in which machine guns and grenade launchers were used.

He pointed out that the Fatah movement was suddenly attacked on its positions, which forced it to respond violently, and the fighting turned in more than one direction, resulting in casualties.
He also continued that due to the resumption of clashes, the governor of the South, Mansour Dau, in a statement, extended the decision to stop work in the official units of the Sidon Brigades.
54,000 Registered Palestinian Refugees
It is noteworthy that last Saturday night in Ain el-Hilweh, one of the largest and most densely populated Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, violent clashes broke out between members of the Fatah movement and other extremists.
This initially led to the killing of a member of extremist groups, and then on Sunday, a Fatah leader and 4 of his comrades were killed in an elaborate ambush.
A truce was also reached in the camp, but it did not last long.
It should be noted that the more than 54,000 Palestinian refugees registered with the United Nations who live in the Ain al-Hilweh camp have been joined by thousands of Palestinians fleeing the conflict in Syria in recent years.
The camp is notorious for housing “extremist groups” and criminals, and often witnesses killings and sometimes clashes.
Although the Lebanese security forces do not enter the camps in accordance with the agreement between the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Lebanese authorities, the Palestinian factions are taking some sort of security measures inside the camps.
